Is my photograph uploaded when I check it?

No. The free check runs in your browser, on your own device. Your photograph is uploaded only if you decide to buy, because that is when the full-size file has to be produced. If you check a photograph and close the page, we have received nothing.

Will my photograph be accepted?

We cannot promise that, and nobody honest can. Acceptance is decided by the office that issues the document. What we can promise is that the measurable requirements — size, head height, eye position, framing, sharpness — were measured against the figures that authority published, and that you saw every result before paying. If an office rejects a photograph for something we marked as passed, tell us which requirement they named: we keep the measurements for every job, and if our figure was wrong you get a full refund.

Do I need a white wall behind me?

Not usually. Where the document requires a plain background, the background is replaced when the file is produced. What matters more is even lighting on your face and no strong shadow behind you.

Can I use a photograph I already have?

Yes, and it is worth trying before taking a new one. Checking costs nothing, so the fastest route is often to test the photograph already on your phone.

Can I use a phone camera?

Yes. Most phone cameras have far more resolution than a document photo needs. Hold the camera at eye level, about an arm’s length away, and have someone else take it if you can — an arm extended towards the camera distorts the face.

How long do you keep my photograph?

Uploaded photographs and the files made from them are deleted automatically 14 days after the job is created. Download links last one hour and can be refreshed from your order page while the files still exist. You can also ask us to delete them sooner.

What do I actually receive?

A digital file, by email, at the size and resolution the document requires. If you chose the printable sheet, you also get a print-ready layout with cut guides. Nothing is posted to you — there is no physical product.

Can I print it at home?

Yes, with the printable sheet option. Print it at 100% scale, with any “fit to page” or “scale to fit” setting turned off, or the photos come out the wrong size. A photo counter will also print the sheet.

Why are there fewer documents here than on other sites?

Because a document only appears once we have read its requirements from the authority that issues it and recorded where and when. Listing a country we have not verified would mean measuring your photograph against a number we guessed. The list grows as they are checked.

Do you support babies and children?

The tool measures a child’s photograph the same way it measures anyone’s. Be aware that many authorities relax their rules for infants — a baby need not have a neutral expression or open eyes for some documents — and those relaxations are not something we can measure. Check the document’s own page for what it requires.
